My Work
The driving force behind my goal of helping others is my work ethic. As the grandson of a small-town contractor and lifelong farmer, I have seen what rewards one can reap while chasing a passion. To reach my goals, I will not take any shortcuts. Below, you can read about some of the roles I have held during the infancy of my professional life.
University of Connecticut:
Peer Mentor Program Manager (August 2024-Present)
Founded and developed a pilot Peer Mentor Program for the Avery Point Center for Access and Postsecondary Success (CAPS) Program supporting first-generation, low-income, and underserved students.
Hired, trained, and supervised two upper-class Peer Mentors, ensuring effective one-on-one academic and personal support for first-year students.
Developed program curriculum focused on goal-setting, leadership, time management, communication, and academic guidance.
Monitored mentee progress and implemented interventions to improve retention and academic outcomes.
Instructional/Program Specialist (June 2023-Present)
Steward over $30,000 in grant funding to provide event programming for first-generation and low-income students.
Curate and instruct a semester-long First Year Experience (FYE) course promoting college readiness, self-care, and personal growth.
Serve as a Teaching Assistant for a first-year college writing course.
Provide year-round advising, tutoring, and mentoring services.
Coordinate workshops on leadership, financial literacy, time management, academic integrity, and more.
Writing Fellow (May 2024-Present)
Facilitate discussions and lesson plans for two sections of five first-year writing students during college transitions.
Collaborate with colleagues to optimize and develop pre-existing presentations and activities to aid students in writing development.
Lead Mentor, Student Tutor (January 2022-Present)
Tutor students in either one-on-one or group fashion to ensure their understanding of course material and academic management.
Develop and exhibit strategies to better teach college-aged students advanced writing and rhetorical techniques.
Facilitate a semester-long series of review sessions for lower and upper-level courses that promote quantitative competency.
Mystic Aquarium:
Supported the development and execution of marketing campaigns for a tourist destination that serves over 800,000 guests every year.
Collaborated closely with the Events, Outreach, and Digital Media managers to plan numerous lucrative after-hours events, generating positive press and revenue growth.
Assisted in creating the official Mystic Aquarium brand style guide, which I utilized to create multiple graphic designs with Adobe Creative Cloud and Canva Pro.
Oversaw and authored all responses to organization reviews on Yahoo, Tripadvisor, Google, and more.
Led the development and planning of the 50th Anniversary celebratory calendar – which saw fifty events and promotions occur over fifty days – driving revenue and turnout.
Contributed to content creation and monitored performance analytics for social media platforms including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and more.
Educate guests about the aquarium's research and conservation efforts.
Interpret on behalf of a diverse group of animals including marine mammals, fish, invertebrates, aquatic birds, and more.
Deliver speeches ranging from general safety to specific habitat or animal knowledge for over 4,000 guests on a given day.
Cooperate with colleagues across departments to ensure the safety and well-being of guests and animals.
Responsible for welcoming, escorting, and educating high-level VIP's and guests.
